In today’s market, people want to feel like they have found you as opposed to the other way around. A majority of the time this is through word of mouth, influencers or organic search.

I’d love to say there is a quick 1-2 fix to get your page to show up 1st right away. But unfortunately it isn’t quite that easy. Google has a very specific algorithm for how they organically rank pages and it is consistently changing. Lucky for you, there are steps you can take in order to optimize your page and help new clients find you on their own.

Google needs to be able to find your website

To help Google better crawl your website, you will need to submit a sitemap. This will provide valuable information about your site and the relationships between pages. To learn how to do this, check out Google’s step by step guide. You should also start linking to your pages from other locations (like your social media accounts).

Google wants people to have a good experience on your site

Page speed, mobile friendliness, security and easy to understand navigation all play a big part in your search engine results. Google aside, these are all website best practices you should be implementing already! The better the experience your users have on your site, the longer they will stay and the more likely they are to purchase from you.

Google expects you to provide quality content

By creating new, dynamic content like additional services or blogs you will keep your current website users coming back for more but also bring in new visitors. When writing this content, be thinking about what your ideal client would be searching for. You have a much higher level of understanding of your product, so make sure you’re writing for your user, not yourself! Always make sure that you are using quality page titles and including a meta description in each new page!
