Intern of Chaos | Part 1
I’ve officially finished my first month at Brand Yourself and I couldn’t be more excited for the rest of the summer. A little about me… I graduated from Northfield High School this spring and will attend Bethel University in Arden Hills this fall. In high school, I played hockey, soccer, and ultimate frisbee and will continue to play hockey next year. I have no idea what I want to major in yet. Brand Yourself is a way for me to learn about the world of marketing, branding and explore career options!
The Brand Yourself team has been extremely inclusive and friendly. One of my favorite people is the Chief Troublemaker, she’s the craziest. I’ve taken two personality type indicator tests. One was the enneagram and I guess I’m type 6 and 9, which I don’t totally understand yet. I also took the Gallup Strengthsfinder to find out my five signature themes, my highest being deliberative.
The first week consisted of learning what everyone does and understanding how to work a laptop since I’ve been using a school distributed iPad since 8th grade, I’ve touched my screen far too many times thinking it would actually work. I’ve also had to relearn Microsoft after not using it since writing papers in 5th grade.
After the first week I wasn’t sitting around thinking “what the heck is going on” or “man, everyone is so loud here how does anyone get work done”?
I’m getting used to the fun, light-hearted environment and discovered having fun and doing work can be done at the same time.
The projects I’ve been working on include:
- making a pricing presentation on if our marketing packages are priced correctly
- discovering how to make a podcast
- creating brand packets
- finding stories about kids whose lives are positively affected by social media
- posting stories on the teams Instagram page
- and writing blogs
I’m starting to find my place as the chaotic intern and I’m excited to see what I can learn the rest of the summer!
